  1. Nice honest video. I love the frosted gold alloys respray on this Im tempted now! Piece of advice – dont drive in Sports Plus it has most jolty shifts and pedal input is remapped so its 50%power in 1st 1/4 pedal travel. It also has heavier assistrled steering which contributes to less feeling. Try Traction mode or normal Sports which have linear throttle map and less aggressive coded gear shifts. The M2 has lots of grip and for its wheelbase predictable.oversteer and handling. Its 50/50 weight distribution and is a better handling car than the F80 and F82 M3 and M4. I daily mine for 3 years now. Has it slid out a little yes, does it scare me if I push it on a narrow road yes.. Its a performance car! It has Lamborghini Countach or Gallardo performance in a small coupe saloon. What do you want here?

  2. Got my OG M2 a week ago and yeah, you need to respect these things. Coming from a Golf R this is much scarier when you flog it. Very chirpy back end and ballsy as hell

  4. Recently bought one of these in November and the weather has been nothing but ice, snow and rain (typical English weather) no problem getting the power down with DSC off, Traction off everything off with Michelin Pilot Sport 4s. People in the comments if you’re uncertain, misinformed or If you’re struggling, stick to 4wd or gran Turismo.

  5. You don't need to drive a car on the road to the point that it scares you, but at the same time, it's nice to know the headroom is there for those special occasions, like track days. There is a reason why this is one of the most common cars at the ring. Thanks for the reviewing my old car…I miss it

  6. The n55 in the m2 f87 is not just a tuned n55 it’s essentially just a s55 with one turbo, it borrows all the stuff below from the s55
    1.Crank, rods and pistons
    2. Oil pump and baffle

Also has, different exhaust manifold, intake and spray in cylinder liners all unique to the m2

  7. LCI n55 owner here.

BMW set this car up to be oversteer-ey on purpose. Soft front end, stiff rear end, the way the electronic diff is set up. They wanted this car to rotate.

Lack of steering feel is real, even on semi slick tires with stiff sidewalls. 100% takes away some confidence as you don’t really understand where the limits are

  8. OG F87 LCI owner here. Thanks for the review. Very fair. Personally, I'm tracking this one every time I can in the summer. Used to its "playfulness" by now. Best tip I coud give is Traction mode is just the right amount of fun without being overly twitchy. Sport+ is great for sound and DCT swiftness, but not much else (terrible on track for many reasons) …

  9. Driven the m2 and i fell in love straight away, it was one of the most fun cars to drive! Yes its a bit scary but once you get comfortable with the car it become a bit more predictable and comfortable. Amazing car!

  10. I went for a ride in a mates M2, and found it extremely firm in the suspension department, to the point that as a passenger, I would find the ride uncomfortable if travelling for more than half an hour – I'm sure it would be amazing on a track, but just a tad too hard for our roads
I thought they skimped on the seats as well – my C55 AMG has more bolstering, and that's an old mans car ha ha

  11. I quite enjoyed my og m2 when it was stock, then learned to drive it when moved to full bolt on stage 2, and messed up the package when went for hybrid turbo, even with upgraded brakes, suspension and xhp for the transmission. I even stopped driving the car on road, only can enjoy it at track in good weather(on nankang crs currently)

  12. The problem with the M2 is that the power on tap has gone up but the feedback and sense of connection to the road has gone down since the old M cars. If this car had proper hydraulic steering feel it would be more intuituve to control.

  13. That upshift skip is old school turbo widowmaker stuff, it's the main culprit for spitting people out of corners, in fact it's the exact reason for that famous clip of that guy here in NZ launching his new corvette into the ditch. In the old days it was all about controlling clutch roll off but hard tuned autos and DCT's don't compensate for that, there is no real way to drive around it. The first DCT's and stuff you could lift slightly on an upshift but the modern ones don't like that, they have anti lag systems to maintain boost during shifts like in the Golf and lifting results in crazy jerky shifts because of that.

  14. Nice review, I've driven the F87 M2 C w. DCT (PS4s) in some incredible roads and on some normal everyday NYC roads. The torque on the M2 C is phenomenal with such a short wheelbase, and I think really makes up for the lack of input feedback. This car Stock seems to have a lot of the same characteristics with a bit more low-end torque but not the surging mid-top end the S55 has.

I have to say though, I found the car really easy to drive coming from driving compact 3 series for 10 years. it was very predictable and stupidly fun. To me it's not a precision car, it's a funny car that doesn't take itself seriously. I don't find it fun to drive precisely, rather to just wrestle it to keep it from hitting a wall. I think that's where it shines. To get fun out of these chassis you have to really force it in the other M products or else succumb to being a red-light warrior popping and banging at every light, but in this one as soon as traction is off, it's on ice skates.

Great street car for fun. Suspension is too firm for rough roads though. I really wish there were more interesting interior specs to choose from. I wouldn't be surprised if people swap M235i Coral Red into these.

  15. I'm having a hard time relating to your experience. I'm an average driver with no formal training and have no issue at all with this car which I've owned for the past six years. Not scary at all. Perhaps the six speed manual I have makes the difference?

  16. I have this exact car, absolutely love it, just need to drive it within your own limits. My plan is to never get rid of it 👍 Thanks for your review
